Perhaps we could take a combination of two options here. We could capture them using one type of force that deals with border and close range firepower, which could simultaneously act as a decoy, drawing vanduul ships towards that conflict while the force tries to escape with the lighthouse. The second option of swift, fast attack spec ops ships, could work on taking out comms in nearby systems, thus clearing their comms and greatly aiding in establishing a beachead where the main force will push to when the "hot" operation starts. This of course requires above all the recon force's ability to locate the enemy comms in those sectors and get that info out to spec ops immediately. So perhaps what I'm saying is, the majority of these strategies could be used in conjunction, once we get closer to the actual operation. On a side note, are recon forces planning to scout out vanduul territory far prior to OP? I think that these experienced recon teams could relay information back much sooner than just before the operation, for instance, the recon teams could learn the norms of vanduul troop movement, to see if clans actually respond to neighboring clans being attacked, or, perhaps see if the race of Vanduul as a whole is going to counterattack soon, all valuable information that could save a lot of lives.

Yes, the recon teams are planning on extensive scouting of Vanduul territory prior to the Op. And we will have to do a lot of experimenting to gauge Vanduul responses so that we can know how to use that to our advantage.
