Heya and thanks for putting this all together Sailor! I bet it has gotten a bit bigger than you expected uh xD. When you have time I would be interested in having a chat with you over skype as i have lots of information for you and am quite experienced in organizing this sort of large scale operation for online games. Hello and good job on creating this huge event! As a Veteran myself, if you need any help, let me know. I don't run a particularly large organization, but am more than willing to help with organizing, logistics, and helping disseminate any information.

I am going to try to read every bio and say hi to each "Forker" that posts. Given the numbers I am probably going to get overwhelmed eventually, but until that happens I will say hello to each of you personally. Just realize it may take a bit  ;-)



I am retired US Navy, I currently work in the defense industry and am part of an R&D team (it sounds more important than it is). As of now I got tasked to help engineering develop test automation S/W for hardware production testing.

Anyway I have never played an online game and have been exclusively SP until SC. I have been building my own PC's until the last two cycles. Work puts me on the road for months at a time, so I am running gaming laptops. Games Skyrim, Fallout 3/NV, ME, Oblivion, Maters of Orion, list goes on. Still have Freelancer loaded on my PC.

SC-  well I am GT and OB, if anyone needs to convert to LTI let me know. No charging or anything just helping out. Converted 10 ships so far for guild mates and others so far, and I consider each my bit to make SC "better" for everyone  

Happily Married, no kids. I work a long day(Not a complaint love my job), that includes ~1.5 hours in the gym every morning. So I am  pretty time limited

hes a "Golden Ticket" owner and "Original Backer". in fact this means hes one of the very first guys that have backed SC back in Oct. 2012.
back in the days LTI was a privilege to OBs.
Now they took non LTI ships from non OBs, melted them, bought an LTI variant with the store credits and gifted the new LTI variant back to the original owner.
this tho, is no longer possible!

I hope we have someone with, you know, 'real' military strategist experience in charge of this operation, because if we throw our fleet at the Vanduul without an strategy first, all we'll get in return is scrap metal.

You cannot fathom the amount of strategic and tactical talk that I have witnessed with OPPF thus far. The sheer amount of organizationl,the debates,the seriousness,the confidence,the comradery,the tiniest details with references to back them up to ensure our theory crafting we are discussing is accurate and up to date with plausability in game with all of it's volunteer divisions set up to prepare and execute OPPF's will. On top of this we have a myriad of irl military veterans and large scale gaming strategists for both flight and infantry combat within our ranks whom all share the belief in the success of OPPF and in it's infancy we have already surpassed the largest organized combat situation in Gaming History known as the Fountain Wars with our numbers for a game that isn't done being made and an organization that doesn't stop growing and collecting talent. So prepare yourself for something bigger than you can currently comprehend and get ready to make gaming history that CIG itself stated will shape a part of their universe. OPPF will make it's mark. Win or lose, it is inevitable.

TO summarize what jacknife said. Yes, we do have some "real" military strategists and then some. Contractors, scientists, professional gamers with experience in similar large scale operations, law enforcement. However, an individuals personal background is still their business, so please refrain from any comments on whether somones theories or suggestions have "legitimate" RL backing. Everyones ideas are as welcome as the individuals themselves and every thought can provide a piece to help build something larger and better.

Uh, guys, let's ALL take a breather.

Kurt, there have been a number of analysts chewing on the available data--I myself did a great deal of data-crunching on the code of the early SC releases mining them for usable info. Professional military historian here, background in Executive Protection just to lay my own creds on the table.

We have four kinds of data to deal with that we'll need to gather and organize before we get into real planning--I'm gonna sound a little like Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld here, but bear with me.

1. Known Knowns - these are data already in our possession, that we either know we have or know we will need. Example, using Arena Commander Duulswarm to figure out which ships and weapons shred Vanduul fighters fastest.

2. Known Unknowns - things we do not know, but we are aware that we do not know them and need to. For example, the frequency and routing of Vanduul patrol paths around the jump points.

3. Unknown Knowns - things we know, but are not aware that we know them. Say one particular pilot having mastered counter-Scythe tactics in VS but hasn't said anything to the rest of the org.

4. Unknown Unknowns - things we do not know, and we are not aware that we do not know. The most worrying, simply because there's no way we can anticipate them.
