I'm seeing no cutlass red. I'm sure maybe, at some point we could use one? May not get a chance to use it on recon but, if we did...I would sure like my carcass saved! Anyone else on board with at least one on the team?
No, Mustang slot?
Oh, and PS: Count <Spectre> gaming in on this phase also!

I'm seeing no cutlass red.

I've got a friend who was very excited when he saw the Cutlass red. He's planning to get one in game, so depending on when he deems SC to be progressed far enough to be worthy of his time (probably when the beta starts), we might be able to add his Red to the roster.

Based on the town hall they did in San Antonio, Jump points degrade and disappear. That 315p and Herald pairing just got more important. I hadn't even thought about the fact that getting home might involve taking a totally different path!

If you want to look at a basic overview someone provided while we're waiting for the vids to get uploaded, here's what I was looking at:

Yeah, I love the fact that I'm gonna be able to carry the same sidearm ingame as I do IRL. :D
Anyone got a Con Andromeda Physical Goodies package you're thinking about melting for a Digital? Send me a note--maybe we can make a deal.

The 315p and Herald is a good idea but i will replace the 315p with the 350r and put the avionics from the 315p into it i will also have void Armour on both ships.
it would be interesting to have one of your npcs fly one of the ships and have the ability to swap between roles!
you could then have a second player fly escort,so you park the Herald up jump into your Ghost 350p escort goes with you find what you need come back to the Herald and everyone goes home.

So I was planning another meet up for last month but it didn't work out, we can try and do one this month if everyone is ok with that.  With these meet ups my goal is to get recon talking to each other more than "this is my perfect plan for recon" as we are still a ways away from knowing how 98% of the systems we will be using will work.  Generally we talk about over all procedures and hang out and play some Arena Commander with each other.  I will set a hard date soon but expect it to be a Saturday afternoonish for North America as that seems to be the best time and day to get the most people from around the globe together.

I probably should post here. I have a Cutlass Red, and I would have no problem following you guys on scouting missions in case something goes wrong

Probably best if you stay at a staging area and wait for an SOS to come in with support.  It was one of the things we talked about in the last meet up.  Using the MFAPs as staging areas for recon missions with support a jump or so away if things get really hairy.

Yeah I don't plan on being in the recon itself, actually I will have my Cutlass Red and I am willing to fly my hospital ship (when I buy it) in a nearby safe zone as both a spawn point and acting as QRF for the scouts

I think the Sabre is going to be a superb ship for recon, so count my Sabre in. It's fast, well protected, has a low signature and packs a hell of a punch (unless CIG changes it). I mean, CIG said that of all the currently planned ships, the Sabre will be the one with the lowest signature (excluding snub fighters), even surpassing the Hornet Ghost in stealthiness (?).

"Do you see that?"
"You mean that Vanduul?"
"Vanduul? I only see a future wreck!"

The problem is, as always, that we can't know what we need to look for; we can however make some guesses and assumptions to form a groundwork. As such here would be my best guess as to items of interest and their order of priority:

0. Capships: with the probable scarcity and how much value they would bring to the effort this would come above all other priorities.

1. Jump points: In my opinion these could be even more critical to our success than knowing where the enemy are at least initially.

2. Enemy positions and numbers: fairly self explanatory, though we should probably focus on finding any fixed installations and large fleets rather than trying to track every last scythe.

4. Strategic "terrain": asteroid fields, nebulae, and such as well as their effects, if any, on shipboard systems.

5. Any other material that could aid the effort either materially or monetarily.

Before even reading this forum I went on a bit of a searching mission and layed out the closest least amount of jump points into orion. 3 jump points 2 of which cross vanduul systems one of those systems being nicknamed the grinder as another poster has set it. If we take in idrises we need large jump points. and we will need a staging area outside of vanduul space to conduct operations from.... Downside will be fuel and security from what I see.

Here is what I have in my notes

Oberon unclaimed system with 1 habitable world and occasional vanduul raids.

Planet Uriel failed terraforming attempt to warm the planets core most settlers live underground on this planet.
Large jump point Oberon to Virgil.

Virgil is a former uee planet till vanduul claimed the system. Tropical world was once a vacation spot for wealthy elites. Now constant bombings by uee has left portions of the planet with swirling ash in the atmosphere.

To next jump point we need to cross the outer edge of this system (the entire sytem) quantum drive and fuel comes into play here.
From Virgil we jump into Tiber also known as the grinder because of the constant ongoing battle in the system that has claimed millions of lives Expect a strong uee and vanduul presence here.. Entry jump point is on the edge of an asteroid field. Then cross the center of the system to the Orion jump point on the opposite end of the asteroid field and system. Will pass by the only habitbale planet which also holds vanduul capital ships.

The jump into Orion puts us far from any main points of interest and the planet we wish to take Armitage the first planet and settlement to encounter the vanduul is on the opposite side of the system

Now as a strategist I would say this is an impossible feat... insane to attempt a raid and impossible to hold being completely surrounded if we by some miracle succeed to take the planet. Supply lines would be nonexistent.

Knowing this I would say take virgil sytem and hold it... Strategic and economic value is so much higher. Once virgil is secure then Tiber... Tiber is where we will meet the strongest resistance and I for one would want to face it head on rather than trying to fly through it hoping it goes unscathed.

Part of the recon strategy would be to find the enemy picket and com ships, perhaps even as part of the prep guide bombers in to destroy them in order to blind the 'Duul before we arrive.

Agree entirely. Getting to, and holding, Orion is going to be nearly impossible so we should just focus on taking and holding one single solar system at a time. However, that's not what's going to happen because if it did we'd lose the vast majority of our members. Most people are thinking of this as a one-off weekend event, not a constant, expensive, war almost. It's not what the original idea was. So no it's not happening like that.
