Some random brainstorming last night...
As I was looking at the AC1.0-suggested map last night and plotting jump points from the XML files in my spreadsheet, I had a few random thoughts re strategy meander into my head. I'm posting them here for debate and discussion...

-----

Multiple Undiscovered systems near Vanduul space--explore as staging bases?

Deep Feint strategy
--Entry route Triese->Adilan->UDS9
--Explore and colonize UDS9
--Shortly before main strikes, launch feints against Vermilion and Voodoo from UDS9, and Veritas and Virgo from Adilan
--if we create enough ruckus at once...
----Vermilion can reinforce from Veritas and Volt
----Veritas can reinforce from Vermilion and Vendetta
----Virgo can reinforce from Viking and Voodoo
----Voodoo can reinforce from Virgo, Viking, Vagabond and Vesper (via Vagabond or UDS10)
----so hopefully such a combined strike would be enough to weaken the front, much like how the Doolittle Raid made Imperial Japan hold back their best planes and pilots for Home Defense at the cost of weakening their outer perimeter
--look for low-hanging fruit, weak or isolated systems easily cut off with only one available reinforcement path that we can heavily defend

Alternative Secondary Feints
--Entry routes Centauri->UDS2 and Bremen->UDS8
--Feints against Volt (from UDS8) and Vector (UDS2)

Sucker Punch possibilities...
1. Banshee through UDS's 13-12-11 against Vulture
--Vulture can only draw reinforcements from Vesper
2. Chronos through UDS's 7-8 against Volt
3. By Vanduul: Adilan->Triese->either Glies->Branaugh or Geddon->Corel
4. By Vanduul: Caliban->Tayac->Baker (at risk of war with Xi'An)

False Flag attack
--as many Xi'An ships as we can muster
--entry route Baker->Tayac->Caliban
--possible feint, then retreat back to Tayac with Vanduul in pursuit?
--if we can create Vanduul-Xi'An incident without them knowing it was us, we gain a powerful ally

Overall:
--If we're serious about keeping Orion, we must also take AT LEAST Caliban, Virgil and Tiber; ideally, Vector and Vulture too--we want to set our front line so we can reinforce from as many systems as possible while they have only one invasion entry-vector
--We can let Vanduul keep Vendetta IF UEE beefs up Kellog and Tiber fleets
--If we can, take Vulture, claim Leir and UDS11 series for UEE--heavy D on Vulture-Vesper JP guards against South Flank
--We MUST secure UDS1 in our opening prep, whether as our own secret staging base or UEE colony; cannot rely on Nul pirates to hold their system against major Vanduul offensives
Anyone got a Con Andromeda Physical Goodies package you're thinking about melting for a Digital? Send me a note--maybe we can make a deal.

Ambitious :) we are going to try and find out indeed if the vanduul react to certain triggers across multiple systems.

With regards to taking over systems.... that is going to depend... on if they can be taken in a practical sense. Orion has a landing zone and shops, that we might use to create a base of operations. Other systems might not have such facilities. Also we might be stretched too thin if we are going after that many systems.

He who tries to defend everything, defends nothing ;)

Other question -> have you by chance found out where the shinubin mining station from sq42 is located?

I personally don't like the false flag idea. If Xi'an ever learned of our part in that, we'd have dug our own graves.

However the other ideas are pretty solid. We do need to remember that we're operating under the idea that we will be in smaller number than the enemy. I see us fighting 3-1 most of the time, so we need to make sure not to spread ourselves out too thin like we plan on doing to them.

I'm hoping in the process of alpha/beta that we do find more jump points and even systems to operate out of

Should we start assigning people to squadrons? Maybe if we start having people training together we can really be ready to take on 3-1 OPFOR. People know how their pilots fight will probably help out a lot.

Squadron = 25 ships, 1 Squadron Commander
Flight = 5 ships, 1 Flight Lead

We can start to log flight training hours with Squadron Commander responsible for overall training syllabus. He can rely on his Flight Leads to make sure the training happens. I know whole organizations are joining, but this structure can apply to OPPF and OPPF only. I feel like getting organized will start to really sculpt how we want to fight and who we want to fight where.

A lot of us have been practicing for the op. I'd say later, once maybe alpha hits, we can start doing training missions with players. We can do that now too, and I highly recommend everyone get as good as they can with their friends and ships. However until beta access, teams, orgs, even leaders will change, so large group training won't be a thing until about 6 months before the event. At that point most players will start to get serious in planning.

But yeah, I'm more than willing to help train players who are willing. Though my skills are more on the FPS, with pretty decent space combat sprinkled in lol

I'm down for some training, I haven't played since AC 0.92 (or whatever it was) but yeah I'm down. Most of my specialty is FPS (Planetside 2 mostly) but I have experience in aviation in the military. I was hoping that some of that would translate into planing/organizing/training/executing missions but I'm kinda just lurking in the RSI forums not doing much.

You can help out by being part of the boarding parties, or the ground assault marines. Maybe lead a fireteam into Vanduul trenches! Lol

There will be plenty of need for FPS players. There are separate boards even for those jobs
