Journalist Outreach Program (JOP)
As the time draws nearer to the launch of OP Pitchfork, we should begin to see if we can't help promote Star Citizen by contacting gaming journalists and letting them know about this most noble endeavor through a Journalist Outreach Program (JOP). The JOP might draw some new subscribers if people hear about it before it happens, and after it happens and people read about it they may also jump into the SC universe.

It's a bit early right now to contact anyone, but we should develop a list and eventually plan a small media campaign. This isn't something that is vital, just something that would be a nice bonus.

I'd like to recommend The Verge for future consideration, since they've already done stories on EVE battles. Included below is one such story.

I'm using this recent Press Roundup as source for good places to contact as time goes by.

Hopefully some gaming website will hear about this event at some point in the future and run a story about it, generating not just interest in the event from the Star Citizen community, but draw more people INTO the Star Citizen community.

Not exactly a press but there's a Finnish humor site which I frequent, been wanting to make a humor pic for it but every time I even flash out the possibility of replacing Sandi Gardeners face with Weird Al's (trust me, nobody would notice) I've been treated as an abomination. So not done it yet, but I think it might attract more ppl to check out who is Sandi and where that's coming from :D

Seeing that this is generally a community based effort it may be worth getting together some "must says" about the operation to present and pass on to the press? In this way we are consistent in the message that we want to bring to the public and it helps to avoid contradictions. Things like, 'largest player based initiative in gaming history' come to mind.

Yeah, that sounds like a good idea, fellas.

We can get to working on those releases, but we should let a little time pass before we send them off. We have to wait to see just how much this grows, and what the dealio will be about whether or not we actually achieve the most. We have those two events in EVE that we have to outnumber if we want to claim that title.

They had 4,000 players. I wonder how long it will take us to top that?

I thought that I would try to start some conversation on my previous point of getting together some 'must says'. By no means is this a definitive list nor is all of it probably right it's just the results of my brainstorm so far. I would love to get some other views on it all and get a solid number of things that we want to communicate to the wider public.

•   Aiming to be the largest community based and driven initiative in gaming history
•   Acknowledged and supported by CIG
•   Designed to provide enjoyment and fun
•   Designed to be a profitable enterprise
•   Holds its roots in the lore of the SC universe
•   Has a vision beyond the initial thrust and military activity
•   Has a growing number of supporters
•   Is looking for more players with beta access to join the cause
•   Has an open structure which encourages and allows participants of the operation to be involved in a range of activities prior to the operations launch
•   Will allow people to participate in a broad range of activities in-game whether that be scouting, front line combat, rescue and retrieval, salvaging, supply running or escort duties
•   Is a community building exercise that is not only establishing new ties between guilds from all over the world but also strengthening existing ones
•   The campaign will occur over all time zones not just in US or EU prime time. So no matter where you are in the world this 24hr coverage will let you be part of a large fighting force pursuing the objectives of the operation during your normal playing hours
