I know there are at least two docking ports on the Idris that I've seen + 3 internal ship hangars. So that's at least 5 ship loads of partygoers. Ooooo, imagine if we docked all of our Idris' together to make one HUGE party ship! Anyone else think this is an awesome idea? :D

Last I heard that was specifically said to be impossible. I don't remember how long ago it was or which thread but one of the devs said that you couldn't dock more than two ships together.

On the other hand we could pair up Idrii and have some avengers or something shuttling between them.

That would allow pirates with more than one boarding vessel per target, you sure you want that? I have no objections on that since it's unlikely to fit more than 15 pirates in a one Cat :D

I actually have no problem with that. If they have the skill to disable the target ship and dock a vessel to each docking point then they should be allowed to do so.

Where there are multiple docking points, it stands to reason that multiple ships can be docked.

Limitations of the game or the universe? I can't see why it should be 'that' much harder for the engine to handle multiple ships being docked. Might complicate the physics calculations a bit more I guess but that's it.

Because you could get an unlimited number of ships hooked up to each other, if their players logged out.

I still fail to see the problem with having an unlimited number of ships docked to each other though.
As for logging out, I presume you mean something along the lines of not being able to undock from an offline ship. The simple solution would be to allow both parties to initiate the undocking sequence by themselves. Add some difficulties to the task to keep boarding viable but it should be fully doable.

The problem isn't with people logging out. The problem is with "unlimited." Even a couple dozen ships docked together would be hell on the physics engine.

True that. I dunno, it 'should' be possible. Maybe allow up to a certain number then no more due to 'the difficulty of synchronizing the station-keeping-systems of so many ships to maintain a perfect hull seal'?
