Talk me out of this plan...

Hey guys, need a favor: Right now, I have an Aurora MR Anniv that I'm looking at CCU'ing to Origin 350r, and the complete chain of CCU's to do it. Your challenge: Talk me out of it, tell me why this plan is a bad idea and I should wait for a 350r package sale again. (Everything else in the package I already have in either existing or planned pledges except the digital SQ42 manual, and I already have 3 player/hangar slots with a 4th planned for a 315p or Avenger).

As I see it, I gain 2 months insurance and a nice price reduction, a full package for less than the ship standalone. But is there something I'm not seeing?

I know about REC, but if I'm lucky I get an hour in every couple weeks and that's mainly SP Free Flight or VS while I learn the controls (steep curve when you're flying on laptop touchpad.)
Anyone got a Con Andromeda Physical Goodies package you're thinking about melting for a Digital? Send me a note--maybe we can make a deal.

Wait, WHY are we talking you out of ditching an Aurora?  Lol

To be more precise, the request is to point out any problems with getting my 350r by CCU rather than waiting for the next sale and going package or standalone that I might not be seeing. ATM, about the only thing that MR really offers is being a parts-donor for upgrades to my LX... (which I'm keeping, I got it in a drawing and for less-dangerous, short-range lower-cargo "runabout" duty it should make a more efficient option than firing up my big-ass Connie.

Yeah I'm keeping an LX CCU I did a while back for the same purpose. That and all my backer stuff is attached to it lol

But I don't see why not, unless the ship package chines with some nice goodies you may want. You got like a year before alpha probably, so there's plenty of time to mull it over :P

I should also note that as someone who only bought in this past winter, I have no Alpha access other than whatever passes they feel like selling (like my AC pass from the MR package, and a second I have standalone which I'm thinknig about melting). The 350R package only has three other real add-on goodies, two of which will come with another fighter, the third I'll buy separate.

Oh well then I say go for it, upgrade to the 350r now. If it comes on sale later you can always melt and buy it then too

Then you can go work on your lap time!

Lap time? LOL, I think you misunderstand why I'm buying a 350... I want to build it up as one of those stealth-black military recon/SpecOps birds mentioned in the Galactic Guide article on Origin. Something like the YF-12 interceptor variant of the Blackbird family... :)

Part of the holdback is, if I melt later that means everything in my package goes with it... including my AC access. Would you belive on the 300 Fly Free week, when I tried a 350 I wiped out against the sim boundary within seconds of starting engines?

I don't like how she handles in space. The race was a different matter, but it wasn't for me.

My plan for a stealth/recon is to use a hornet ghost or maybe modify a 315p

Yeah, my thinking was 315p as my "F-117", and Avenger as my "A-10".

Racing requires reflexes I don't have... frankly, until I get a working stick again I think I'm limited to Free Flight.

Yeah a stick helps loads. I'm not much of a racer,  I'm a pretty decent dogfighting guy, but I'm pro at evasion, so if someone is in my gun, or I'm running recon, I'm set
