Joint Operations Weekend Events
With the prototype Joint Ops event concluding successfully on the 26th of March, it's time to start making this a regularly scheduled occurrence. So it's time to lay out a more structured itinerary so that Twitch Streamers can know a little bit of what to expect. As we figure more of this out, this post will evolve to reflect the evolution of the event. I will also list all of the Twitch Streamers and Youtubers we can expect at the next upcoming event here.

First, we need to figure out what time to group up, and how we're going to group up. Because we have an international community, we have the benefit of having a full day event, but the downside of trying to figure out individual start times. But this will help us out in the long term to figure this out.

Once we've figured out start times and how to group up in the server, we need to figure out what events we're going to organize into.  I want some organized events so that the Twitch Streamers specifically know what to expect. Youtubers can cut up their videos to remove the dead space, Streamers can not. I'll list the suggested events on this post as well, with a star next to the activities we're planning on holding. We'll do a round of votes the week before the scheduled event to decide.

And as always, because of the nature of OPPF, always feel free to help participate in the planning. If you think you have an idea or suggestion on how this can be organized better, don't hesitate to speak up. OPPF evolves and improves because of our community's open dialogue.

Explanation for Activities:

Asteroid racing around Yela: High speed low drag! People line up at a starting point, and take off at the laser shot. We'll have ships in the asteroid field parked ahead for people to race by so the course is marked out. We'll have a finished line placed at the end with another ship to record the finishers. We can make it so we have weapons on or off for some versions.

Ship Relay Races: We have teams of equal size race ships to certain locations around the system, then they have to unload their crew from one ship to another to begin the next leg of the race.

Security Post Kareah Raids: One team will act as the Vanduul and attack the security post and try to drop strike teams onto the station. We'll set up a point in the station that needs to be taken. The balance needs to be decided on the team how many ships they want protecting the station and how many people they want on foot. Teams can switch roles after each round.

Large Ship Escort Missions: Multicrew ships with a predetermined route through the system must be protected from "Vanduul" attack until it can make it back to Port Olisar after visiting a certain number of locations.

Multicrew Battle: We gather together opposing teams made up of Multicrew vessels and duke it out. Could probably use a better name.

Giday Ben,
Had a ball during the last event, my system gets a bit framy so I did end up shooting some of our own (I'm really sorry about that :( ). With Pitchforks main event being effectively a PVE one (apart from the chance of Devs jumping into Vacon ships) it occurred to me that getting all the comm relays switched on might be a good exercise. It would give small groups of us a chance to work together against NPC's as well as giving our leadership a chance to co-ordinate multiple groups in different but related missions.

I'll post this in the main PF thread on RSI and our FB page as well to see what sort of response it gets.

Should be fun, lets hope that CIG doesn't release a patch the night before like last time.

Well I'll be there - last time was so much fun so not going to miss this one. As mentioned before if we know the handles of the streamers turning up will help when in Discord in getting things up and running. As to what to do - well 2 things spring to mind. The usual Outpost duty. Great if we can get more than one group running so we can run in more than one instance. And should things be slow then run a few missions. Other than that we may have to improvise depending on time/bugs/patches and people in attendance.

I plan on being there, assuming there is no major patch dropped day of again.

I imagine we're going to need to do a lot of improvisation until they get several systems more hammered down.  I think station raids is probably going to be the default until we get a little more organized.  We can also invite the community who are on the same server to participate as well.  That could always help us round out any numbers we lose to people stuck outside of the server.  And people who end up in another server can organize into a parallel event.  Might not be a bad idea, get's us more exposure to more people, though getting everyone together is the main objective.

I added two Joint Ops channels last weekend during the event. Are they not there anymore? Ah, I forgot to make the chat channel for it. Never mind.

If anyone says they are going to participate and plan on streaming or making Youtube videos, send them here or notify me so I can add their accounts to the planing OP so others can see who is participating in that regard.

OP updated.

Man, I absolutely hate hearing myself. It makes me want to be even more of a behind the scenes guy just so I never have to hear my voice in one of these videos. But enough about that. I think we learned some valuable things this time around, like space racing isn't really ready to be a thing yet unless we can find a more dense asteroid field than the one around Yela. Need more obstacles. Kind of makes me realize how impossible rely racing may be because that would take even more work as it requires multiple multicrew ships spread around to make that work.

But people really like the security station raids. Might be able to implement Corvelax shipping as well. And the Multicrew raid on the sats was really fun, with so many pirates spawning. We can look into expanding these.

I think for the next event we're going to start off by having everyone meet on Port Olisar first, before getting their ships. We seem to have too much trouble getting people to the same spot and together when everyone is floating around the system in various spots. Communication needs to improve some as well, we've got people stepping on other people who are trying to organize too much.

Let me know what you guys think.

Greetings. I have been talking with an org called Wreck Raiders. After bringing it up they were interested in doing one of these joint OPs with us, so I am looking to set one up for sometime next month.

Since this idea is more of a Joint Ops thing I will post it here. I am copy pasting something that [XPL] OmegaGrayKnight came to me about. I will also get the idea around on the Discord and the OPPF forum thread.

"XPLOR had a idea of putting something together called capture & defend the planet. all orgs and players are invited. it will take place after 3.0 and move over to the instancing that CIG have talked about.
Bascially the orgs will split up into 2 groups one defend the planet and other have to land on the planet to deliver some type of payload.
we wanted to get a few orgs on board with this idea before posting it on the RSI forums. and say that we came up with this idea. to make it more of a community event then just a org event.

We already have xplor and angry pixels on board. with it. we was wondering if the people over on OPPF would be interested in joining?

We wanted 5 or 6 orgs on board with this idea. Once we get enough orgs on board the orgs will get togther and come up with the details"

Sure! Having as many OPPF on board with this idea as we can get is great.
